Although the staff at Panther City Soundscaping are not electronic device designers and not electrical engineers, analog devices of different functionalities can be built off of general schematics available to the public and through DIY kits. The advantage of using these units as opposed to the more common commercial lines is the level of customization. In many cases, these circuits can be built on solderless breadboards in order to fine tune the equalization and tone that a customer is seeking. Once the tone is achieved, the circuit can then be permanently transferred to a soldered board and installed into an enclosure with personalized graphics. The final product can then be truly advertised as an original unit for the player with the final goal being an original tone.
Modifications to many analog circuits are available. Theses are normally provided to make subtle, and sometimes not so subtle, adjustments. These include projects such as finessing the equalization, adjusting the noise floor or brightening the LED lighting for improving outdoor performance. Other reasons to make modifications may be structural, i.e., re-housing a circuit into a different enclosure that fits better with the form of an overall rig. These modifications can be for ultra-customization or to make a less expensive device sound closer to the higher grade units.
Analog circuits are made up of components that are made to last. However, there are mechanical parts that will fail in time. These parts include the dials, switches, jacks and peripheral wiring. At Panther City Soundscaping, these can be repaired that will give new life to an ailing device. Although most parts can be sourced through multiple vendors, there are some that are more hard to find. Research to find the right parts or a suitable replacement is provided to the customer for every part. This begins immediately after an order is placed to provide the quickest possible turnaround time and minimize any disruption of service to the customer.
